The 2016 Garden

This year in Ottawa was very dry and hot. DRY was the operative word. Gardens had to be watered every day.

Interesting the way the dahlias adapted to it.

The Kenora Amethyst were shorter, and flowers had shorter stems on individual flowers.
Wine and Roses hardly made any blooms.
Sparticus did very well, as did Show'n-Tell.

Big Wow did not make many blooms.

The weather was wonderful for making seeds though. This was the first year that I planted cultivars beside each other that I wanted the bees to cross-pollinate.  For example: Aragon and Mii Tai, Summer Nite and Thomas McNaulty, etc.

The hybrid garden in 2017 produced some marvels.
