Collecting Dahlia Seeds

1. let the seed pods ripen on the plant

 

2. when large and firm, cut and label them

 

3. dry them in a warm place like behind your furnace

 

4. keep them there until they nearly fall apart on the floor

 

5. Shuck the seeds in February by gently crushing the pod.

 

6. Blow the debris gently to separate it from the seeds. 

 

7. Sort and store the seeds in labelled paper envelopes.
